How the custom design builder works
- Build your request. Choose a board and the finishes you want, then tell us the wording, colors, and details. Your estimate updates with every choice.
- Pay the $20 design fee. It covers up to three design proofs, so you can be sure you love the final look.
- Approve your proof. We confirm your final price with your proof before anything is made.
- Make it your way. Take it home as a DIY kit, paint it with us at a workshop, or let our team finish it for you.
What you can build
- Board sizes: squares from 8 x 8" to 24 x 24", planks from 8 x 24" to 12 x 48", signature boards from 12 x 16" to 30 x 40", and 10" and 18" door hangers. Boards start at $15.
- Frames: a wood frame sized to your board, from $15.
- Paint pour background: swirled, marbled color behind your design, $15.
- Epoxy pour: a glossy, glass-like finish, $15 with 4 oz included and $5 for each additional ounce.
- 3D word cut-outs: raised, laser cut wood lettering and shapes, from $15 and priced by board size. On 10" and 18" door hangers, 3D is included in the regular price.
- Painted by our team: a finished piece ready to hang or gift, from $10.
Custom order questions
How much does a custom wood sign cost?
Every custom order starts with a $20 design fee. As a DIY kit, boards run from $15 for an 8 x 8" mini to $120 for a 30 x 40" signature board, and frames, paint pours, epoxy, and 3D lettering are added on top. The builder shows your full estimate before you pay anything.
What does the $20 custom design fee cover?
The design fee covers our designer's time and up to three proofs of your custom design. You see and approve your proof before we cut, pour, or paint.
Is the price in the builder my final price?
It is an estimate based on the size and finishes you choose. We confirm your final price with your proof, before anything is made.
What if my project is not on the list?
Choose "My project is outside what I'm seeing here, but I'd like a quote" and describe your idea. Tumblers, awards, bulk orders, odd sizes, and brand new ideas are all welcome. We reply to most custom requests within one business day. If it turns out to be something we can't make, we refund your $20 design fee.
How much notice do you need for a custom order?
We ask for at least 3 days' notice for all custom designs. Need it sooner? Reach out and we will do our best to fit you in. Additional fees may apply to rush orders.
Can I paint my custom sign myself?
Yes. Order it as a DIY kit to paint at home, make it at a workshop with hands-on help from our instructors, or have it finished and painted by our team.
Can I send a photo or logo with my request?
Yes. You can attach up to three photos, logos, or inspiration images when you build your request.
Do you offer refunds on custom orders?
If you request a quote for a project outside our menu and we are not able to make it, we refund your $20 design fee. Finished custom pieces are made just for you and are non-refundable, which is why we work closely with you during proofing.
